On May 11, 2012, Carter D. Womack, president and chief executive officer of Leadership At Its Best, LLC and John E. White, district manager, On-site Service Solutions-School Services for Sodexo, jointly announced that SodexoMagic had partnered with Leadership At Its Best to establish the SodexoMAGIC Junior Executive Development Program (JED), with Saginaw High Schools in Saginaw, Michigan. World renowned sports figure and businessman Earvin “Magic” Johnson’s Magic Johnson Enterprises has a business partnership with Sodexo thus SodexoMAGIC.

The partnership between SodexoMAGIC and Leadership At Its Best, with the establishment of the JED program, will have a lasting positive impact on the students that were selected to participate in the program, as well as stakeholders who committed to the program and the growth and development of each student.

The JED program is a comprehensive educational workshop and leadership development model that engages high school students in grades 9-12 in Saginaw schools. The four month long program is designed to develop an awareness of the career opportunities in government, corporate and community based organizations, while at the same time exposing students to executive leadership roles in these types of organizations.

As a result of participation in the SodexoMAGIC JED program, each student will:

  • Be better prepared to serve as a leader in their school and the community.
  • Be more knowledgeable about the world of work and what it takes to be a leader in corporate, civic and governmental communities.
  • Be better prepared to be a peer educator for other young people.
  • Gain skills to be better prepared to enter the world of work.
  • Become more knowledgeable of his or her community and the importance of being of service to others

John White, stated, “SodexoMAGIC is excited to partner with Mr. Womack and the team at Leadership At Its Best to launch this pilot program in Saginaw. Part of SodexoMAGIC’s business philosophy is to recognize the importance of developing the next generation of leaders and giving back to the community in the markets where we work and do business”

Carter D. Womack agreed and added “As we launch this new partnership with the team at SodexoMAGIC, we look forward to blending our programs and ideas to offer extensive educational, leadership and community based opportunities with the young people selected for the JED program.”
